UCSC Summer Programs for New Students

Congratulations and welcome to UC Santa Cruz!

UC Santa Cruz offers a variety of summer programs for new students. Some programs are open to all new students, and some are by invitation only. Below is a general list with basic program information.

All new students are required to complete the one-credit online Orientation Course (see deadlines here), and they are required to meet all Admissions and Orientation deadlines (see the To-Do Orientation List page).

This information applies to the entering fall class. Contact the office offering the program directly with questions. Click the program link to learn more about the individual programs.

American Indian Resource Center Native (AIRC) Student Orientation September 19-20, 2024

Incoming fall first-year and transfer American Indian/Indigenous students.

Academic Excellence Program (ACE) June 24-August 30, 2024
(Summer Session 1, Summer Session 2, 8-week summer session)

Jumpstart WEST Program

Incoming transfer students who plan to major in STEM at UCSC. Yes- but needs to be available during required program times.

Slug Summer Send-Offs

Various dates between June 23 - August 10, 2024 (primarily on weekends) These are one-day programs for newly admitted students and family members. Yes.
STEM Diversity Research Programs July 1-August 23, 2024 Application opens first week of December every year and closes second Friday in February. Visit website for updated application every year: https://stemdiv.ucsc.edu/
STEM Jumpstart Program- Calculus TBD Yes- but needs to be available during required program times.
STEM Transfer Jumpstart Program- Genetics TBD EOP transfer students who are majoring in STEM majors requiring these courses. Yes- but needs to be available during required program times.

Tutoring - Learning Support Services (LSS)
