Access to YouTube & Google

  • All UC Santa Cruz Orientation Office courses have videos and slide presentations which rely on YouTube and Google to be viewed.
  • We are aware that some students may not be able to access Google products from home. Therefore, we have created PDF documents of all of the videos produced by the Orientation Office. And, we are providing you instructions to access a VPN provided by the campus. You do need to be a student that has accepted their admission in order to access the UC Santa Cruz VPN Client service.
  • If you have problems accessing any of the orientation slide presentations or videos, please email us at orientation@ucsc.edu, and we will provide you with additional support.

  • View this very helpful "How to use the UCSC campus VPN" video created by the University Library for additional support.

  • VPN Client Installation: VPN Quick Start

  • One way to gain access to orientation slide presentations and videos is to install and use the university's VPN (virtual private network), which allows you to use the internet as if you were on UCSC's campus. This is how you do it:
    1. Download the VPN Client using your CruzID and Gold password
NOTE: the above link is on a protected Google Site, so you will need to be signed in to your UCSC Google account to access it, otherwise you will get an error page.
    2. Install the VPN client
    3. Launch the VPN client
    4. After installation and launch: choose "vpn.ucsc.edu" then use the Campus VPN instructions to complete secure access
