College Academic Advising and other College Programs - MANDATORY for all new students!
Each college has an Academic Advising Orientation, most of which are held on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Colleges will hold important events and programs during this time - some mandatory, some optional. Refer to your College's Welcome Week Schedule to find the date, time, and location of your college's Academic Advising Orientation and other mandatory College Programs

Mandatory - Advising session at your college. Check your schedule for specifics on time and location, varies by college.

ID Card Services: Open To ALL Students

ID Card Services Office (Quarry Plaza, near Bay Tree Bookstore)
Photos for student IDs; government issued ID required along with Student ID number. Card received at the time of service.  Also, open to all replacements, exchanges, and make-ups. Students living ON campus who took their photo at Summer Orientation may pick up their IDs at their college of residence during Move In. Students living OFF campus who took their ID photo at Summer Orientation may pick up their IDs at their college of affiliation’s Housing Office starting on September 18. Consult your college's Welcome Week Guide or contact your college Housing Office for location and hours.

To setup your library account, bring your UCSC Student ID card to the Library Services Desk and let them know you want to activate your cardaccount. Your ID is your library card, and it takes just a minute!

Vaccine Clinic  (Appointment needed – call 831-459-2500 to schedule)

Student Health Center (across from Colleges Nine and Ten)
All incoming students UC-wide will be REQUIRED to receive certain vaccinations and be screened for tuberculosis (TB). In order to prevent enrollment holds, students are encouraged strongly to complete these requirements BEFORE coming to campus. Tuberculosis screening before coming to campus is mandatory due to the risk of disease spread to close contacts such as roommates. At this vaccine clinic students may receive immunizations or have their immunization records reviewed. Students may receive the following immunizations:  Tetanus/pertussis (Tdap) ($77), MMR ($87), Varicella (Chicken Pox) ($128), Meningitis* ($146), Influenza (Flu) ($25), HPV (Gardasil) ($195 each - series of 3 required), Hepatitis B ($121 each - series of 3 required) and TB screening= Skin test ($29)/Blood test ($77).  
(*This meningitis vaccine is to prevent meningitis serogroups ACYW-135. At this time the new Meningitis B vaccines are not recommended for the general public.)
All of the above-mentioned vaccines and the TB Skin test Screening are 100% covered by the UC health insurance plan (UCSHIP); TB screening by Lab test has a 15% co-payment. To take full advantage of this clinic, please have your immunization records with you.

Join us for an office tour, and a chance to ask general questions of our front office staff. Tours are held at the beginning of every hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Residential Network (ResNet)
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (closed from 12-1pm) at Rachel Carson, Room 258
ResNet assists with Internet access on campus (Ethernet and WiFi) as well as with general computer repair. Phone support available from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 831-459-4638

University Library Tours
McHenry Library: 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.  (Meet just inside the library entrance for the tour)
Science & Engineering Library: 1:00 p.m. (Meet just inside the library entrance for the tour)
Tours are led by the Library’s crew of Roving Information students. Featured are the Global Village Café, the Information Commons for online research and study, the Digital Scholarship Commons, Special Collections & Archives, group study rooms, outdoor reading porches, and much more! You will also learn about the library’s services and collections, such as borrowing course textbooks and Chromebooks and iPads, and the video game room (at the Science & Engineering Library). Tours run approximately 30 minutes.

Are we on Campus or in a Forest? An Introduction to the Campus Natural Reserve Lands

The UCSC Campus is unique within the University of California in that over 400 acres of the campus have been set aside as a Natural Reserve.  These lands are home to 1000’s of plants and animals including bobcat, deer, and the California giant salamander.  This event will discuss the animals and plants found on the Campus Natural Reserve and highlight ways you can get involved in research and educational activities at our Natural Reserves and the Ken Norris Center for Natural History. You will also learn about appropriate use of the reserve and see specimens of some of the animals and plants that occur on campus. Introduction to Undergraduate Research

Classroom Unit 1
This workshop introduces students to undergraduate research including what it is, why it should be a part of your UC Santa Cruz experience is, connections to future educational and career goals, types of opportunities available, how to get started, and examples of UC Santa Cruz-specific opportunities.

Boardwalk Frolic
6:00 - 10:30 p.m.
Rides, dancing, and exclusive use of Neptune's Kingdom Arcade await. With ticket, you get free parking, and special TAPS bus transportation with UCSC ID. Free tickets for laser tag, bowling, miniature golf, one return ride ticket and $3 in Boardwalk Bucks for food! Tickets are $20 and are available at the Bay Tree Bookstore. Buses will run until all have gotten a ride back to campus. It’s best to wait at the Boardwalk for a ride, even if there is a bit of a wait initially. For more information contact:831-459-4544.
